Abstract:

Peak runoff flows and flood hydrographs are important elements in the design of drainage and flood-protection structures. The validity of methods for predicting peak flow from rainfall is the subject of this paper. Calculated peak flows using the USGS regression equation were more accurate than those calculated by the Rational Method. Continued research will include: improvement of the rational and regression equations, simulation investigations with HEC-1 and TR-20, and neural network programs.
