Abstract:

Delft Hydraulics has developed a model package for the water management of irrigation schemes. The model package runs on a Personal Computer and is to be used by local water managers. The model has an allocation module for the determination of water distribution strategies and, recently, an operation module to generate gate settings needed to realize this strategy has been added. The user-interface makes extensive use of a geographical information system (GIS). The extended model is applied to the Fayoum irrigation scheme in Egypt.
