Abstract:

The choice of a model parameter for concentrating the entire uncertainties of a constant load amplitude fatigue crack growth process is shown to be sufficient when reproducing the first two statistical moments of the arrival times from experimental, e.g. Virkler's data. By considering this parameter to be a material property it is possible to make predictions for other load amplitude levels and geometrical configurations.
