Abstract:

A publication was issued by the Transportation Department of Riverside County, California, in December of 1989 which required all traffic impact studies performed for new development to adhere to a specified format and methodology. This paper will address the experiences of the Transportation Department in implementing and enforcing uniform guidelines and methodologies to used by the private sector in the preparation of traffic impact studies to be submitted for review and approval.
