Abstract:

Improvements to the procedures for quantifying pass-by trips (T), handling imbalanced traffic volume conditions, and collecting field pass-by trip data are suggested. A simpler model which is as good as the model used in the Trip Generation report in explaining the variation of T was suggested. The procedure outlined in the Trip Generation report does not yield accurate results when there is an imbalance between the entering and exiting traffic volumes. A modified procedure is proposed. Improvement to the ITE's survey form is suggested to avoid over estimation of pass-by trips when multi-destination trips are sampled.
