Abstract:

In analyzing experiments under impact loading, a dynamic model is needed to solve for the deflections and strains as functions of time. For composites, where shear deformation can be very important, incorporation of the transverse shear terms ?xz and ?yz in the solution is necessary for accurate stress analyses. This paper presents an analytical approach based on a load versus time function produced through low velocity impact experimentation based on cylindrical shell panel response.
