Power Sources for Lunar Bases

by Alastair J. W. Mayer, Space Pioneers, Littleton, United States,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Engineering, Construction, and Operations in Space III

Abstract:

Working and living on the Moon requires artificial power sources both to operate equipment and to maintain life. This paper briefly surveys the power sources designed or proposed to support Lunar operations, primarily those for large systems. As an additional criteria to power-to-weight ratios, it examines expandability using lunar materials.
