Abstract:
Statistical models are developed for the shear resistance of concrete bridge girders. Two structural types are considered: reinforced concrete T-beams and prestressed concrete AASHTO girders. The resistance is considered as a product of three factors representing the variation in material, fabrication and analysis. For typical sections and spans, the parameters of shear resistance are derived by simulations. The resulting cumulative distribution functions, probability density functions, mean-to-nominal ratios, and coefficients of variation are shown in figures.
