A Dual Approach to Low Frequency Energy Definition in a Small Craft Harbor

Abstract:

Low frequency wave energy in a small craft harbor is examined through comparison between a numerical model and a 3-dimensional physical model. A hybrid element steady state linear monochromatic harbor oscillation numerical model which includes boundary absorption and bottom friction is used to develop an amplification response function and identify resonant periods. A 1:75 scale physical model is the basis of comparison. Time series are analyzed in the frequency domain and spectral parameters compared for correlation with numerical model predictions.
