Abstract:

This paper discusses a series of full-scale trial blasts which was conducted in an aggregate producing quarry with the objective of improving yields of armourstone. The quantitative research methods are fully described or referenced and results relating to quality control of gradings, shape and integrity of blocks are presented. Based on the results obtained from these trials, some suggestions on blast design for optimizing armourstone production in similar geological terrains are proposed.
