Abstract:

The routing of drivers based on anticipated as well as instantaneous link travel times has presented route guidance system developers with an opportunity to achieve additional IVHS benefits beyond those that can be accrued by routing vehicles based strictly on current link travel times. This paper presents an analytical solution to this anticipatory routing problem for a simple 2 route traffic network and illustrates how this analytical solution can also be replicated and derived using the Integration simulation model.
