by Mark A. Turnquist, Cornell Univ, Ithaca, United States,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Applications of Advanced Technologies in Transportation Engineering

Abstract:

Real-time location information on shipments of hazardous materials can be used to update routing decisions while the shipments are in transit. The effects of unforeseen delays, accidents on the network, and time-varying network characteristics can be taken into account, in an attempt to reduce risks, especially for shipments of 'ultrahazardous' materials.
