Abstract:

The paper discusses the experience of the staff of the Minnesota Department of Transportation in experimenting the traffic simulation models: FREQ10 and KRONOS6.2 . The project development plan included three major areas: data collection, model validation, model output. It is concluded that the employed simulation models are accurate enough to be used for decision makings in planning, operation, maintenance, and incident management.
