Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Applications of Advanced Technologies in Transportation Engineering

Abstract:

Following a top down analysis of a selected set of innovative RTI functions, we identify in this paper the requirements and characteristics of the roadside equipment and central installations which are necessary to realize and support the functions. In this context synergetic effects are highlighted by showing that many subfunctions as well as most physical units support more than one function. In addition the requirements for data transmission, reaction time and data processing capabilities are roughly specified for the different units.
