Abstract:

The California Division of Structures began its column retrofit program in 1986. This program is a supplement to the earlier superstructure retrofit program. Analysis and design concepts are discussed in this paper. Several projects have been completed at a cost of $30 million and about two dozen are currently being constructed with an estimated cost of $8 million.
