Abstract:

The Bureau of Reclamation (the Bureau) and Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) are promoting water conservation through the development of computer software to enhance accounting and scheduling of irrigation distribution systems. The software are user friendly and oriented to the requirements of an irrigation district. Intensive data gathering and entry required for field irrigation scheduling are avoided. The only required data entries are those data that some districts already are recording on paper. It was assumed that water orders from the water users reflect the field scheduling method that they are using, be it scientifically or heuristically generated.
