Abstract:

USM was developed by the USBR for simulating unsteady flow conditions in canals with either manual or automatic gate operation. This paper describes the model and discusses the relative strengths and weaknesses compared to other similar models. Several test data sets compiled by the ASCE Task Committee on Irrigation Canal System Hydraulic Modeling were used in the evaluation.
