Abstract:

Investigating the response characteristics of irrigation waer supply and distribution systems is essential if a good design is to be developed. Numerical simulation techniques have been developed to study the behavior of such systems. A critical review of numerical methods used to model unsteady flow canals is presented. This is complemented by practical considerations and an indication of potential problems.
