Abstract:

The requirements for high degrees of nutrient removal at the Reno-Sparks Wastewater Treatment Facility required employment of several cost-effective, innovative treatment process applications. The plant has been successfully achieving these requirements since 1988 using PhoStrip for phosphorus removal, higher density plastic media fixed-film reactors for nitrification and fluidized beds for denitrification.
