Abstract:

A BASIC computer model was developed to simulate reservoir operations in conjunction with a proposed water supply withdrawal. The model was used to assess the potential impacts of the withdrawal on the system's ability to meet flows recommended for enhancement of the reproduction of an anadromous stock of striped bass which utilizes the river downstream of the reservoirs. Simulation results confirmed that by using storage rights purchased by the withdrawer in the most upstream flood control impoundment, all impacts of the withdrawal on fish flow augmentation releases can be mitigated.
