Abstract:

The adsorption of tetrachloroethene (PCE) onto several polymeric materials is reported and compared to activated carbon F-400. In addition, the bisolute adsorption of chloroform and trichloroethene (TCE) onto Reillex 425 is reported and compared to the single-solute isotherms previously reported by Browne and Cohen. The study suggests that additional work on competitive adsorption of VOCs onto polymeric resins must be done to clarify the nature of adsorption and potential for selective adsorption.
