Abstract:

The correct simulation of air pollutant dispersion from area sources of pollutants has presented some unique challenges to dispersion modelers. This study employs geometric tests and sensitivity analysis, as well as comparison to observed data to evaluate commonly used algorithms. The results indicate that, within the framework of Gaussian dispersion modeling, the multiple line source approach represents the most reliable dispersion from an area source.
