Abstract:

This paper briefly describes research in progress by the authors on the institutional and policy considerations of issues related to global climate change. The aim of the research is to identify and analyze the key properties of the legal and institutional mechanisms now being advanced to deal with global climate change issues; to investigate the forces which shape and modify these proposals as they confront the international policy formulation and decisionmaking process; and to examine the contribution that these newly emerging measures will have on the nature of the evolving global environmental management regime.
