Abstract:

The brazilian EEZ represents a challenge to management since it has heterogeneous oceanographical and coastal conditions. Modelling and planning made for a rich country could be extremely expensive and impracticable for countries of the Third World. On the other hand, international programs managed by 'the economic power' increase the technological dependence of the poor countries. Thus, it is fundamental that each country makes its own Management Planning for Exclusive Economic Zone in order to reach less costs and more technological control. We made a practical proposal for operational management of the EEZ in relation to the coastline of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.
