Abstract:

This paper is based on ground surveys along the South Carolina coast from Edisto Island north to Myrtle Beach. It also includes ground surveys as far inland as Charlotte, North Carolina. Buildings and structures for this paper were grouped into three categories based on the level of engineering effort that may have been involved in the design of the buildings: non-engineered; marginally engineered; fully engineered.
