Abstract:

The South Carolina Electric Gas And Company's response to the disaster began even before Hugo Struck. Company employees began preparing for the predicted onslaught. Workers started to take inventory of available materials. They ckecklisted poles, transformers, crossarms, and related equipment that would be in high demand after the storm. Suppliers were also called to be ready with supply items. This paper reports on the efforts of the company with regards to information dissemination; transmission lines restoration; repair to damaged lines; power restoration; personnel welfare.
