Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Geotechnical Engineering Congress?1991

Abstract:

The preboring pressuremeter has been used for foundation design for many years. Some recent developments are presented which extend the applications of the pressuremeter. These developments include a rule of thumb to estimate the behavior of a pile subjected to horizontal loads, a method for horizontally loaded piles next to a trench, the design of guard rail posts for vehicle impact, an application to drilled shaft construction, to drilled shafts with expansive concrete, and to the design of stone columns.
