Abstract:

Refined techniques for the structural analysis of ground supported concrete slabs are presented. The principles of limit state design in terms of strength and serviceability are implemented. Through a full nonlinear concrete layered finite element analysis the nonlinear response is traced up to complete failure. Such slabs are highly redundant systems and possess remarkble reserve strength. Economical designs could be obtained.
