Abstract:
Recently, as a high-resolution numerical technique, the Total Variation Diminishing (TVD) method is applied to Aerodynamic shock problems successfully. In this paper, a Total Variation Nonincreasing (TVNI) method is used for computation of weak solutions of hyperbolic conservation laws to simulate the 1-D and 2-D discontinuous flow caused by breaking dam. The numerical results show that the TVNI method produces sharper fronts and achieves higher resolution and so it is available for the simulation of dam-breaking waves.
