Abstract:

A two length-scale turbulence model is developed to simulate transverse mixing prosesses in rivers. The dispersion of the effluent from the MUC (Montreal Urban Community) sewage treatment plant in a section of the St. Lawrence River is calculated using this model. The concentration and velocity profiles obtained from the calculation are in close agreement with the field data obtained from a dye test in the river.
