Abstract:

This study considers responses of geometrically and materially nonlinear plane truss structures with spatially uncertain system parameters, subjected to random excitations. A stochastic linearization method in conjunction with a perturbation method is proposed to solve for the response statistics. Results of a structure under Gaussian filtered white noise ground excitation indicate that the stochastic linearization method has good accuracy and requires little computational time, also the contribution of the system spatial uncertainties to the total response statistics can not be neglected.
