Abstract:

A decision support system (DSS) has been developed to assist water use planners and technical staff of the Southwest Florida Water Management District in choosing appropriate supply alternatives to meet current and future water needs. The decision support system consists of a set of object-oriented databases, and several supporting models and input-output devices. The DSS was designed to be flexible and open-ended in recognition of the dynamics of the planning process. This paper provides an overview of the structure of the DSS.
