Abstract:

This paper describes the development of the Intelligent Warning System (IWS), a modular extension of the Operations Advisor and Simulated Intelligence System (OASIS). OASIS is a full-scale knowledge-based advisory system for the real-time water management activities within the limits of the South Florida Water Management District (District). The objectives of OASIS are to help raise the average level of decisions made and to help preserve the knowledge used in making such decisions. The IWS analyzes real-time data and, through an inferential reasoning process, identify abnormal situations that should be brought to the attention of the District water operators.
