Abstract:

In many areas of the country experiencing drought or limited water availability, efficient water pricing offers the best conservation and allocation strategy. This paper analyzes the use of a water pricing strategy incorporating competing demands from agricultural, municipal and industrial water users to achieve efficient allocation under conditions of limited resource availability. Issues regarding the formulation of water pricing policies are also discussed.
