Abstract:

The computer program described here analyzes simple span highway bridges for any AASHTO live load, generates girder and slab dead loads, performs the analyses for maximum moments and shears, and designs a prestressed concrete section. The program will design composite or non-composite sections and it will calculate all section properties, the required prestressing force, number and spacing of strands, losses of prestress strand harping requirements, ultimate strength, non-prestressed longitudinal reinforcement and shear reinforcement. Girder optimization may be performed automatically to achieve the most economical combination of number of girders, girder spacing and concrete design strength or to minimize a precast slab section depth.
