Part of: High Level Radioactive Waste Management 1991

Abstract:

The Licensing Support System (LSS) is an electronic information management system which will be used in the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's (NRC) review of the Department of Energy's (DOE) license application to dispose of high-level radioactive waste (HLW) at a geologic repository. This paper will evaluate the critical program issues that must be addressed to ensure successful implementation of the LSS, including the schedule for LSS development and the division of responsibility between DOE and the NRC for development, and operation of the system.
