Abstract:

Moment-rotation and strength characteristics of beam-to-column bolted connections of fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) pultruded wide-flange structural shapes are discussed. Results of experimental tests on full-size connections are presented. Moment-rotation data are given and elastic connection stiffness coefficients are tabulated. Nonlinear moment-rotation characteristics and failure of a double web, top and seat angle connection are discussed in detail. Test results for a redesigned stiffened connection of the double web, top and seat angle type are presented and compared with the unstiffened connection.
