Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Serviceability and Durability of Construction Materials

Abstract:

This paper outlines how the Bureau of Reclamation has historically participated in standards development for emerging technologies, and how present standards are applied or adapted for use in construction, quality control/quality assurance, and laboratory and field testing phases of its work. Case histories are used to demonstrate particular standards-use issues in soil, concrete, and non-traditional construction materials, with emphasis on the adequacy of ASTM standards as they currently exist.
