by Toy S. Poole, US Army Engineers Waterways, Experiment Station, United States,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Serviceability and Durability of Construction Materials

Abstract:

A general description of economic, technical, and environmental factors that affect the types of portland cement available is presented. Economic factors have had a major effect on balance between domestic and imported production. Demand for cements that gain strength rapidly has resulted in major changes in the technical properties of cements, particularly Type II. Environmental legislation has most affected production cost, although technical features have been also affected.
