Abstract:

A set of specially designed experiments have been carried for studying the resistance of a flow consisting of water and both fine and coarse particles. The viscous force caused by fine clay particles and the reduced dispersive force are linearly addible. The dispersive force caused by collision of coarse particles reduces to a great degree due to the cushioning effect of the flocculent structures formed by fine particles. The preliminary result is presented in this paper and further study is needed.
