Arid Lands - Impending Water-Population Crises

by Marvin E. Jensen, Colorado State Univ, Fort Collins, United States,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Hydraulics/Hydrology of Arid Lands (H?AL)

Abstract:

Many developing countries in arid lands will face major food production problems because of population growth rates. Irrigation water requirements will soon exceed available renewable water resources. The performance of many irrigation projects must be improved and production on rainfed lands must be increased to avoid major future conflicts in many arid areas.
