Understanding Delivery Performance Before Rehabilitation

by Albert J. Clemmens, U.S. Water Conservation Lab, United States,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Irrigation and Drainage

Abstract:

In the initial stages of project formulation, decisions are made regarding the method for allocating water, and the method for physically distributing water. Any major rehabilitation effort should determine whether the existing water delivery plan is appropriate. Changes in irrigation practices and crops may suggest changes in this plan. At the start of the rehabilitation process, the collection of data related to water allocation and water delivery operations may be required. The purpose of this paper is to describe the type of data that needs to be collected, the statistical methods for analyzing the data, and how to interpret the results.
