Abstract:

This paper considers the traditional activities of water utilities, and the solutions that will yield short and longer term requirements. These needs are then contrasted with the capabilities and strengths of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technologies. This paper examines applications where GIS technology is appropriate, and other applications where different technologies provide a better solution.
