Abstract:

This paper presents the background, outline, and initial findings of an international project on 'Managing Cultural Diversity in Orbital Habitats'. The purpose of this project is to investigate significant habitability design and operations issues that arise with respect to multicultural crews working for long time durations in space facilities. These issues are being explored in the context of near Earth and lunar operations through expanded surveys and interviews with cosmonauts and astronauts who have had significant spaceflight experience.
