Abstract:

NCPI has developed a computerized trench load design program which provides a broad and complete spectrum of design options which will enable engineers and contractors to safely design and install permanent clay pipe systems with the least cost. Based upon the Marston Equations and ASTM requirements, program 'EASE' has been developed with the user in mind. It is completely self contained and user friendly. 'EASE' provides three different design options depending on the needs of the user. Where applicable, live loads and impact factors are also included. This paper also summarizes the clay pipe industry's laboratory, field and university sponsored research which contributed to the development of 'EASE'.
