Document Type: Proceeding Paper
Part of: Structural Safety and Reliability
Abstract:
This paper describes the analysis of weigh-in-motion data and the conclusions drawn. Statistical distributions of the effects induced in typical bridges due to single vehicle events are presented. Extrapolated serviceability and ultimate limit state effects are compared with National Association of Australian State Road Authorities bridge design loading and the inconsistencies discussed. The variations around the world in the definitions of the design life and return periods for serviceability conditions are discussed in relation to the results of the analysis.
