Abstract:

The Task Committee on Structural Safety and Reliability of the Japan Society of Civil Engineers has made survey of recent advances in the field of structural reliability. Consequently, it reached a conclusion that the evaluation of lifetime risk is quite important to ensure a satisfactory safety or serviceability level through the life of structures. The committee published the final report which includes the results obtained through its research activity during the last four years. In this paper, the outline of the report will be introduced with some discussion on each current issue.
