Abstract:

Past studies on nonlinear structural response of a single member only concerned with independent, identically distributed load magnitudes. When the structural member is subjected to cumulative loads such as a column at the lower level of a multistories building, the cumulative load magnitudes will no longer be independent even though the individual loads may be independent. In this paper, a discussion on the analysis of nonlinear load exceedances of a single structural member subjected to correlated sustained load process is presented.
