Abstract:

In this paper, a numerical assessment on the reliability of a control system of building structures by active cables is performed. Some control experiments on a 23-story shear-wall building subjected to wind loads have been simulated. The mathematical model which simulates the control loop takes into account all the elements in the loop even the lag time in the actuators. The control algorithm is based on a predictive strategy in whose formulation one has considered that time delay. In order to assess the performance, the reliability and the practical feasibility of the control system, in every numerical control experiment one computes the values of 6 indices which provide full information on the level of reduction of the response and on the more significant request on the elements of the control system.
