Abstract:

Methods are developed for estimating the reliability and failure time of Daniels systems subject to Gaussian load processes. These systems consist of a set of parallel fibers and can carry the applied load in various damage states defined by the number of unfailed fibers. Reliability estimates of Daniels systems developed in this paper are based on mean crossing rates and diffusion models of the response process and account for conditions that response satisfies at the initiation of each damage state. Proposed methods for reliability analysis are applied to the analysis of two Daniels systems with two fibers.
